  Welcome

We are glad that you have been able to come and visit our church.

Lower Clarence Baptist Church (LCBC) is an evangelical church. This means that we value God’s Word as recorded in the Bible. We teach God’s Word and we are learning to live it out. The preaching at LCBC is expository preaching which means we go through books of the Bible, reading passages within their original contexts to learn what they mean for us today.

LCBC used to meet in an old church building at the top of the hill in Maclean. In 2000 the church built a new building in the growing area of Townsend and Gulmarrad.

LCBC is not a building, but a group of people, a part of God’s family. Our church is made up of about 70 adults and 20 children representing some 40 households..

The minister or pastor of LCBC is Andrew. He is married with four young children. Andrew has been a pastor in Sydney, in Central West NSW and now the Northern Rivers. Andrew enjoys reading, the beach, climbing mountains and going to the cinema in his spare time.

Feel free to contact Andrew if you would like to find out more about our church or what we believe, or if you would like a free Bible.

Minister_button Our Sunday Service

Some interesting things about our Church:
At 9 a.m. Sunday mornings our church gathers together for a service. We sing a mix of both contemporary and traditional songs. Our purpose is to honour God and give him thanks as well as consider God’s Word, the Bible so that we can be encouraged to serve God at home, work and play throughout the week.

Minister_button Our Sunday School

For those who come to church with children we have Sunday School for preschoolers (ages 3-5) and also for Infants and Primary aged children during the Bible talk. Sunday School breaks over the school holidays.

During part of the service the children (aged up to Year 6) go into the hall for “Children’s Church”. Children are taught the principles of Christian life and encouraged with the good news about Jesus.

A cry room for small children is available with toys, a cot and a child bathroom. Any parent who would like to make use of the facilities in this room is welcome to do so

Minister_button Our Activities

During the week there are a number of groups that meet to learn about the Bible. We have a men’s group, two seniors groups, and a group for younger women.

Other activities include a monthly Ladies Fellowship meeting, Marjonne, Homemakers and a service at the local aged care home, Mareeba.

Minister_buttonOur Teams

We also have various other groups where members of our church are able to use their gifts to help and support others. These include a Care Team which visits, a Administration Team (diaconate) and a Music Team .
